Jean-François is the new Chief Executive Officer of Henogen SA

Jean-François has a MSc and a PhD in Biological Sciences from the Universities of Louvain (UCL) and Brussels (ULB). He holds a complementary degree in Management and Finance (Solvay Business School Entrepreneurs).

As a research scientist, he worked for more than 10 years undertaken missions in fundamental and applied research. He has gained extensive experience in genetics, immunology, biochemistry and molecular biology. He has developed with success several projects of research in the development of live multivalent recombinant vaccines, in pharmacogenetics, and in the study of the Cystic Fibrosis.

Jean-François participated in the launching of Henogen and for over 10 years, he has developed various expertise in development of biopharmaceuticals, QA/RA, manufacturing and global management of a new biotech company.


Sophie Houard Sophie Houard, PhD

Sophie is the scientific director of Henogen SA.

She is responsible of the selection and development of Henogen’s proprietary product from their production up to their registration following clinical development. Henogen’s products are mainly focused in the transplantation field (ie vaccines or immunotoxins) with variable development levels. Some of them are in phase I or phase I/II clinical evaluation and another has almost completed phases III studies and is entering registration process.

Sophie has joined Henogen in 2001 after more than 15 years of research at the free university of Brussels in the field of recombinant vaccines. She has earned a master of science and obtained her PhD in molecular biology from the free university of Brussels.

Jean-Louis joined Henogen early 2008 as new Chief Finance and Administration Officer.

Jean-Louis has a Master of Science in Management (Ingénieur de Gestion) from the Solvay Business School (Université Libre de Bruxelles).

He is also member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Belgium (IEC).

After having started his career as auditor in a major international audit firm, he worked the last 20 years as Finance and Administration Director in various manufacturing companies, mainly in the pharmaceutical sector. He has developed a large experience in merger and acquisition, project and change management.

Ralf Fehrenbach joined Henogen early 2008 as new Chief Operating Officer in charge of the Contract BioManufacturing Services.

Ralf has a Biotechnology Diploma from the “Ecole Supérieure de Biotechnologie” of Strasbourg (F) and holds a complementary Management Diploma from the University of Louvain UCL (B).

Ralf has over 15 years of experience in the biopharmaceutical industry and joined Henogen, from Rentschler Biotechnologie GmbH, Germany, where he was heading the cell culture department.  He was in charge of upstream processing operations from cell line development to manufacturing of both, clinical and market supplies.
Before that, he has worked for 10 years at GSK Biologicals SA, Belgium as a scientist in various functions in both, process development and manufacturing of clinical supplies.
